Before You Die Or Resign, Remember The Promise You Made To Me On Your Sick Bed – El-Rufai Shocks Buhari On Live Radio
The
embattled Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has declared that his
fate in the 2019 election, lies with God and President Muhammad Buhari.
El-Rufai, spoke on a special phone-in radio programme, in Kaduna, to mark his two years in office.
This
statement came at the heels of the glamour call for Buhari to throw in
the towel and tender his resignation, due to health challenges.
Recall that before now, El-Rufai had been acting as the defacto Vice
President, who allegedly calls the shot on behalf of Buhari, while the
substantive Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, was regarded as a ‘flat spare
tyre, or a mere commissioner’.

Speaking,
El-Rufai said: “If the President comes and meets me, and says I want
you to re-contest or otherwise, I have no option than to obey his
command.
“After
all, in 2014 or thereabout, I had my own plans before the President
asked me to contest the exalted position of the Governor, and the rest
is now history”, he added.
El-Rufai also dismissed reports that
his government had received grants from Melinda Gates for some of the
projects being implemented in the State capital, and its locality.
He declared: “We have not only cut cost in governance, but we have saved to carry out these projects.
“We were not reckless in our spending, but we are very meticulous and prudent in our finances. Your money is safe.”
El-Rufai
cautioned those promoting division and violence to desist from such
acts, warning that violence would only lead to destruction and not
development.
